So here are some kitchens to inspire.
For our house, in particular, the first two photos tend to sum it up.
We're going with Butcher Block Countertops (which of course is a renewable resource and an inexpensive product) and plain simple white cabinets (courtesy of ikea). The stove will be up against the wall and the sink in the island. The sink will probably be a white undermount or drop in. The faucet definitely loving the industrial fixture in both photos. We love the accent wall with some dark color, perhaps grey or chalkboard paint, that way i can have all my funky bright colored things pop. We love the white glossy tile, perhaps under our island or slight back splash, we'll have to see.
i have to admit, i'm a little bad at sticking to just one genre. I love a little bit of everything, and too much of one thing is just over kill. I think of it as: All things in Moderation, there's so much to love and enjoy and putting random bits that don't "typically" go together makes the "specialness" of those individual things that much more beautiful! Hopefully my husband tames me enough to keep the bones of things "simple and plain" ... enough for me to mess it all up!! :)
